Fifty-eight year old Austin ‘Rally’ McDonald of lower Roseau, East Kingstown, died early this morning, almost two months after he was brutally attacked at his home, a source has told CIBS.
McDonald was found unconscious, gagged and in a pool of blood with his face and head bashed on Aug 16. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital by ambulance and remained in hospital until his death.
Up to press time, there is nothing to suggest that police have established a motive or working with a particular theory or angle.
Some people have expressed belief that the power outages experienced across the island between the night of Aug Saturday 16 and early morning Sunday Aug 17 created the opportunity and that the perpetrators used the cover of darkness to carry out their deed.
Days before McDonald was attacked at his home, he was struck on the side of his face with what is believed to be a stone.
It is not known whether there is a nexus between the two crimes.
Recently, a suspect was identified in that previous incident. However, it is not known whether anyone has been arrested and charged in connection with that incident.
It is not certain whether the suspect in that incident is also a suspect in the horror attack on McDonald which occurred between Aug. 16-17, 2025.
Shortly after he was struck in the head in the previous incident,
police on mobile duties met the bleeding McDonald along the public road in the area outside the FLOW (former Cable and Wireless) compound in Arnos Vale.
McDonald was transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown. He received medical treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Days later, he was found at his home unconscious, bleeding and gagged.
