Accountant on multiple fraud charges granted bail

Thirty-two year old Julia McLean, an accountant residing at Brighton, was last week granted bail in the sum of $10,000 with one surety when she appeared before the Serious Offences Court on multiple counts of fraud.

Police said McLean has been charged with five counts of making a false instrument and five counts of using a false instrument.

Police have alleged that between September 9 and 24, 2025, McLean wrote five cheques totaling EC$5,166, and on separate occasions issued five cheques totaling EC$5,166 to an employee of Trident FRS Inc., inducing her to accept them as genuine.

According to police, the offences were allegedly committed at locations in Kingstown and Pembroke.

When she appeared in court, McLean was not required to plea to the indictable charges.

As part of her bail conditions, McLean was ordered to report to the Calliaqua Police Station every Monday between 8 a.m and 8 p.m.

The court further ordered that Stop notices be placed at all ports of entry and exit.

McLean is scheduled to reappear in court on November 10, 2025.
